You Call Me Friend?

John 15:14-16

You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.  15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends , for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.

Just how important is Jesus in your life?  Granted, He is your Savior and Lord, but do we really understand the relationship that we have with Him?   Jesus has revealed to us all that the Father revealed to Him!  Jesus calls us friends!   Does that not amaze you?

I’m even more convinced that I need to spend time in the Word of God and in communion with Jesus to understand the will of the Father in my life.   I know many people that come to me and say, “Pastor, how do I learn God’s will for my life?”   I simply tell them to ask their friend Jesus for help.  Whenever I stumble and fall, whenever I feel the “old nature” come calling, I have learned I need to ask my friend for help.   By focusing on the Lord I will be able to overcome the temptations that come at me.  By walking with Him I will learn the path that God has set before me.

Jesus, to some people, is just a Holy person, or a prophet, or the person you prayed to back when you were younger.   If you want to impact your world and your life in an overwhelming way, get to know Jesus.  He is the center of our life.

Fairest Lord Jesus, Ruler of all nature,

O Thou of God and man the Son,

Thee will I cherish, Thee will I honor,

Thou, my soul's glory, joy and crown.

Think about it…
